Information to citizens of Ukraine:
If you have been granted collective protection and/or are to collect documents that were handed in to The Police in connection with an application for collective protection, you can meet on Tuesdays between 09.30 - 14.30 and at 16.00 - 17.30 and Wednesdays from kl. 09.30 - 14.30, Thursdays from 16.00 - 17.30 without an appointment.
Processing time and appointments
Due to the war in Ukraine and the need for registration of asylum seekers we are experiencing that our processing time is increasing for several types of residents permits. We are also offering fewer appointments than normal.
Please follow our waiting times on police.no. Our capacity to answer phone call and e-mail inquiries are very limited. You will not receive any other answers if you contact us by phone og e-mail, than if you search for general information on the police website. For more information see UDI.no and the Tax Administration/foreign.
Due to our long case processing times and waiting times to get an appointment, there are now especially many people who want their case processed faster. However, very special circumstances are required for your case to be moved to the front of the queue. For the police to be able to assess a documented request for priority, you MUST follow UDI`s guidelines for priority on UDI.no: Can your case be moved to the front of the queue? (be given priority)
EU/EEA Citizens and their family members
- For a limited period you will experience that there are no available appointments to register with the Police, nor to apply for permanent right of residence. We would like to reiterate that the right of EU/EEA nationals to reside in Norway is dependent on whether the EU/EEA national has a reason to stay in Norway, not the registration proof that the Police provides.
- For family members of EU/EEA nationals that are not EU/EEA nationals themselves, that need to apply for a residence card, we have the capacity to offer some appointments. The appointments will be posted continuously. The same applies to family members of Norwegian citizens who are covered by the EU/EEA regulations due to the fact that the Norwegian citizen has been employed, self-employed, had enough funds or been a student in another EU/EEA country. Family members that have been living together with them in another EU/EEA country than Norway, and are moving together with them to- or are reuniting in Norway, has to apply for a residence card.
Applications regarding work immigration
There is currently a longer processing time, and we have limited appointments to apply and to obtain a residence card. If your appointment was cancelled, you need to book a new appointment. We will post new appointments continuously.
We are working on measures to reduce the consequences. We ask you to avoid contacting us for general questions and about the waiting time in individual cases, to reduce the pressure on the answering service. Here you will find information about waiting times.
The following must call us to make an appointment:
- Renew asylum (these applications must be submitted in person).
- Applications for derived refugee status (these applications must be submitted in person).
If you are waiting for your residence card or travel document and the police receive this in return, we will send you an e-mail with information about scheduled pick up time.
