Do you need a residence card?
If you are a citizen of an EU/EEA country you do not need a residence card. All others who holds a residence permit in Norway must have a residence card.
Have you applied for protection (asylum)?
If you have been granted a residence permit after applying for protection (asylum), you have to book an appointment with the police where you live to get your residence card.

When do you receive your residence card?
It takes up to 20 working days until you receive the residence card by post.

It is important that the name of all family members is written on your letter box. If not, postal services cannot deliver the residence cards, and it will be returned to the police.
If you have not received your residence card by post within 20 working days
It takes 14 working days for the police to receive returned residence cards from the postal services. When we receive the card in return, we contact you by telephone or e-mail to arrange when you can collect the card from the police. Contact the police district where you submitted your application if it has taken more time than this and you have not been contacted.
