From the end of November to January 2026, just under 200,000 people in Oslo, Asker and Bærum will receive an invitation to take part of a local safety survey.
The survey is conducted by Verian on behalf of the Oslo Police District, and is sent to a large selection of residents of Oslo, Asker and Bærum.
-It is important for us to know how our citizens experience security in the public room where they live and travel. We hope to get as many answers as possible to have the best possible basis for allocating our resources correctly, says Chief of Police Ida Melbo Øystese.
It is the second time a local safety survey is conducted in the Oslo Police District. The first time was in 2023.
-The results of the 2023 survey gave us a solid foundation to implement initiatives in prioritized areas. The results this time will be crucial for planning our efforts in Oslo, Asker and Bærum in the coming years, says Øystese.
New this year is that the survey is available in four languages: Norwegian, English, Arabic and Somali.
The survey includes questions on the following topics:
- Your sense of safety in your local area
- Perceived crime
- Police accessibility and response
- Trust in the police
Participation is entirely voluntary. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond!
Facts about the local safety survey 2025
The survey is conducted by Verian on behalf of the Oslo Police District. Everyone invited has been randomly selected from the National Population Register and will receive an invitation via email and SMS. The survey will be sent to approximately 180,000 residents of Oslo, Asker and Bærum.
The e-mail is subject to "Local Safety Survey 2025" and will be sent from e-mail addresses undersokelse@verian.no, undersokelse@veriansurveys.no and undersokelse@norskgallup.no.
Multiple email addresses are used to prevent the survey from being flagged as spam by email providers.
Participation in the Oslo Police District’s safety survey is completely voluntary. Your information will be treated confidentially. You may withdraw your participation at any time if you choose to take part. You decide whether to answer all the questions in the survey. There will be no negative consequences if you choose not to participate or later decide to withdraw. If you no longer wish to be part of the survey, all data about you will be anonymized. If you choose not to participate, any information we have about you will be deleted.

You take part in the survey by completing an electronic questionnaire. The questionnaire includes questions about your sense of safety, whether you have been a victim of crime, police accessibility and response, and your trust in the police. Finally, there are some background questions about you.
Please note that the police will never ask you to provide sensitive personal information or BankID via a link, phone call or email.
